A large portion of California is desert and having never been, I hopped at the chance to go for my best friend’s 30th birthday last year. We packed a tiny car much too full and took the somewhat arduous drive from Oakland to Palm Springs. Bordering the impressive San Jacinto Mountains, Palm Springs is a great jumping off point for Southern California exploration.
If you ever find yourself in this part of the world, I highly recommend checking out:
- the Salton Sea
- Salvation Mountain
- Joshua Tree National Park
- the Integratron.
I’m not going to go into details that a quick Wikipedia search will provide. Choose your own adventure. Here are some random 35mm photographs I uncovered from my trip last year.
